Starcraft II Multiplayer Sees Major Design Changes

After this year's much anticipated spotlight release of Starcraft Remastered, Blizzard is looking to give Starcraft 2 a much-needed overhaul as well. According to Blizzard's recent news post, Starcraft 2 will be seeing some major design and balance changes, much of it focused on its current roster of underused abilities and units, as well as reducing the number of sudden win conditions in the game.

The new patch will undergoing extensive testing before being officially released to the public, which will be sometime in November after the year's tournament season is over. Players who are eager to experience the new design changes however, can currently do so on the Testing section available in Starcraft 2 multiplayer.

Some of the major changes listed include better comeback mechanics through increased output of Vespene Geysers and Mineral Nodes, removal of key units such as the Mothership Core, and a complete reworking of many units and their abilities.

As the new changes are quite extensive, a complete readthrough of the patch notes is recommended. Blizzard does caution however, that the current build may be subject to many changes during the testing phase before its final release.

Keep in mind that this is a first pass on the design update for November this year. Things may look very different as testing goes on with numbers changing, new changes being added or other areas being rolled back. We are very excited about the potential that these changes have for the StarCraft II multiplayer community, and the test matchmaking queue has been activated.
