Steam Concurrent Player Numbers At An All-Time High Thanks To COVID-19 Quarantines
Starting the week off with COVID-19 news as per yoozh. Steam concurrent player numbers hit an all-time high this weekend at over 20 million players thanks to the quarantines currently in effect all over the world.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive also reached record-breaking numbers at one million concurrent players, the shooter’s highest player concurrency since it launched seven years ago. Other big-name titles also saw a spike in player numbers. DOTA 2 reached nearly just over 600k players while PUBG topped off at close to 500k concurrent players.
Seems that meme about gamers secretly enjoying the quarantine is right on the money.
#Steam has just reached a new concurrent online user record of 20 million, with 6.2 million currently in-game, likely due to many people staying at home due to the #coronavirus.https://t.co/bzLMfMOJvD#COVID19
