SuperData March 2018 Report Shows League of Legends Dethroned, Fortnite Still Booming

SuperData has published their monthly Worldwide Digital Games Market Report for March 2018 and it has a few surprises. League of Legends, which has graced the #1 PC spot since the inception of these reports, has finally been dethroned.

The venerable MOBA has fallen to #2, usurped by Dungeon Fighter Online. While this does not necessarily indicate a decline in League's numbers (DFO recently held massively successful events), it does at least point to stagnation. We'll have to wait another month to see whether this was an aberration or the start of trend.

The other major move in the PC category this month was the continued rise of Fortnite which is now at the #5 position, below Crossfire. Fortnite only launched in China on April 23, so its likely we'll see it continue to shoot up in the months ahead. Fortnite performed even more impressively in the Console category where it took the #1 spot. That console spot will be highly contested in April with games like God of War and Far Cry 5 (released Mar. 27) gunning for its position. Across all platforms (PC, Console, iOS), Fortnite generated $233 million in the month of March. That is an astonishing figure that will only grow as the game spreads to China and releases on Android.

Honor of Kings remains the top mobile game, and Tencent also managed to grab the #2 spot with their kart racing game QQ Speed. Check out the full list on the official SuperDate post!
