The Tale Of Toast Is A Two-Person Hardcore PvP MMO Project With A Silly Name

When I decided to browse Greenlight today, I didn't expect to find that a new hardcore PvP MMORPG had been listed, but I definitely didn't expect that any new hardcore PvP MMORPG that I found would make use of a cutesy art style with bright colors and chibi-styled characters. And yet, that is exactly what The Tale of Toast did.

The Tale of Toast is a new hardcore PvP MMORPG from a two-man team that hearkens back to the days of "MUDs, Ultima Online, RuneScape Classic, and EVE Online." The game employs a "huge open world" with open PvP, an "expansive spell system," dungeons that feature bosses, pets, both land-based and flying mounts, and a large assortment of trade skills, including Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Botany, Carpentry, Cooking, Fishing, and Mining.

The game also boasts a unique twist on traditional MMORPG combat. The basic system is described as follows.

The combat system is a mixture between real-time and strategy. When you initiate melee combat with a player or enemy, both players are locked for three rounds of fighting before they are able to run or stay fighting. Rounds are handled automatically by the game, and the decision you as a player have is what type of combat stance you want to fight in during the fight. Spells and Magic are real-time, which means you can for example shoot an arrow at an enemy and then attempt to kite them.

Additionally, if two players are locked in melee combat, no other players can attempt to fight either player in melee combat until their fight has ended. However, players that use magic or ranged weapons can still "provide assistance."

You can find more information about The Tale of Toast on the official website or the Steam Greenlight page—if you like the concept, don't forget to vote it up so that it can be one of the last few games that makes it through Greenlight. It is currently set to release sometime in Q2 2017.
