Tencent Bringing Playerunknowns Battlegrounds To Mobile In China

We recently announced that Tencent had secured the Chinese publishing rights to Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, now we have a better idea on what Tencent's plans are with the lucrative contract.

Besides publishing the PC version of PUBG, after making minor revisions to please the Chinese censors, Tencent is already hard at work on a mobile port of the popular Battle Royale game. China's mobile gaming market has massive, and has exploded in popularity thanks to smash hits like Tencent's own Arena of Valor and others. Year over Year growth in Tencent's mobile gaming revenue is at 84% and if the Chinese mega corp manages to push out a mobile PUBG port for 2018, it seems that growth will continue.

There's no news yet on whether Tencent's mobile port will be released outside China, but it does seem likely. Tencent has already taken a minority equity position in Bluehole Studios after a full takeout offer was rebuffed. With PUBG selling over 21 million copies while still in Early Acccess, we expect Tencent to continue its pursuit of Bluehole.
