The Twitch Store Will Launch With 50 Titles

When Twitch starts selling games in the sometime near future, Amazon's storefront will have 50 games for sale, including Ghost Recon: Wildlands and For Honor. If players get a game through their favorite streamer's page—so long as it's above $5—they'll obtain a loot crate with unique emojis, badges, and bits, and the streamer will earn a small cut from the sale.

Twitch announced they would sell games back in February, and we did report it. Today's posting is more about the number of games. The number "50" was reported by VentureBeat, and it's a larger library than I personally expected. My initial guess was the service would launch with a handful of titles as a sort of Alpha/Beta test, before opening the flood gates.

Keep in mind, Twitch is partnering with certain companies, so not just anyone will be able to sell their games through the service. Eventually, it will open up—as time goes on—but it's unlikely to go as wild as the Steam Greenlight service.

If Twitch starts to sell games through their desktop client I think it could pose a threat to Steam, eventually. Key word: eventually, meaning quite a bit of time. We shall see.
