Twitch To Start Selling Games In Livestreams

Twitch is taking the next natural step and will soon start selling games through livestreams and on game pages. So, below your favorite streamer's—MMOs.com—stream you'll soon see a "Buy Now" button to purchase the game being played. We got to make sure we stream buy-to-play titles from now on.

Buying a game through Twitch not only grants you a digital copy, but a Twitch Crate. Ooo, what's inside you ask? Surprises! Maybe you'll earn an exclusive emote, chat badges, or Bits for cheering.  Plus if you buy a game, a portion of the proceeds will go to the streamer: 5%.

The move makes perfect sense considering Amazon owns Twitch. But when the program launches not just any company will be able to sell their games. You have to be on the VIP list, such as Trion Worlds, Paradox, Hi-Rez, or Ubisoft. Eventually, Twitch plans to add more companies. This is just the start.

Soon, advertising will not be Twitch's sole method of generating revenue, which has been an increasingly difficult means to support websites. The upcoming affiliate program should help not only Twitch bolster their profits but perhaps Streamers as well. We'll have to wait and see how it proceeds when it launches.
