Welcome to 2017, everybody. Donald Trump is the president of the United States of America, AFI released a self-titled album over two and a half decades into their career, and the RuneScape franchise is continuing to grow with the release of...an audio adventure made for Amazon's Alexa.

Indeed, Jagex has released the first in a series of audio adventures for Alexa devices known as "RuneScape Quests." Entitled "One Piercing Note," the first adventure is a murder mystery at the Abbey of St. Elspeth, which turns somewhat demonic as players uncover secrets that the abbey has hidden. It is based on an in-game quest from the MMORPG, as the rest of the series is intended to be.

Jagex Games Studio Design Director Mark Ogilvie had the following to say about the announcement.

RuneScape Quests: One Piercing Note is RuneScape doing what it does best – telling stories, immersing players in an adventurous narrative and, with Amazon Alexa, we’re delivering that experience in a very specific way for a great voice experience. Players choose their own path throughout the adventure, engaging in audio puzzles, investigating crime scenes, selecting how to question suspects and, ultimately, how to catch the killer.  The game takes full advantage of Alexa AI machine learning; using its state of the art voice recognition and natural language understanding to make interactions more conversational and directions more seamless, putting the player squarely in the role of a proper investigator.

The RuneScape Quests app is now available in "the Skills section" of the Amazon Echo's Alexa app. You can find more information about the new audio adventure series on the official website.
