Torchlight 3 Spring Update Is Now Live Featuring The Cursed Captain Summoner Class

The Cursed Captain is now playable in Torchlight 3 as of the online ARPG’s latest update. As we reported last week, the new class is a mid-range summoner and the first full summoner class in the game. He uses a unique resource called Doubloons to power his combat abilities which includes summoning a crew of spectral pirates to fight by his side.

“Walking the plank between life and death, the Cursed Captain is the undisputed commander of the high seas. This corporeal new class can summon a crew of undead swashbucklers during combat or blast enemies with twin sabers, powder kegs and other classic pirate weapons. Plus, those who take control of the Cursed Captain can collect doubloons from combat to power his skills. The Cursed Captain has two unique skill trees: Cursed and Piracy. Along with these unique skills, the class also introduces a new class-specific armor type to Torchlight III: capes.”

“The Cursed Captain is an amazing new character class with awesome summoning skills, giant cannons salvaged from ships to blast enemies in the way, and a salty, ghostly personality to match,” said Echtra Games.

Aside from a new class, the spring update also introduces several quality-of-life improvements, including a new pet system, additional pet slots, four new companion species, a new Fur and Fashion contract, and several changes to the UI.

The update is now live on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game itself is currently available at half off on the PS4 and Switch. Other promotions are set to be announced tomorrow. Don’t forget to check out the official update trailer right after the jump.
