Tribes: Ascend Finally Gets A New Update

tribesascend

Following public testing beginning in September, Tribes: Ascend's Out of the Blue update is finally here. The more free-building system of light, medium, and heavy armor types has been introduced. Players now choose one weapon per class. The maximum number of weapons is decided by their armor class. Three new maps—Terminus, Perdition, and Ice Coaster—have been added. The Flak Cannon and Elf Projector weapons have been added, while others have been removed or streamlined. All weapons and vehicles have been rebalanced.

Basically, the entire game has changed. The business model has changed, as well. Players can now purchase weapons and other items using XP or gold, the real money currency. Alternatively, they can pay a one-time fee of $9.99 to unlock everything. All previous purchases have been reverted to XP and gold and can be spent once more on the new system.
