Twitch Affiliate Program Will Help Small Streamers Make Some Change

Today, Twitch announced a new program that will help non-partnered streamers make a little bit of money: dubbed the Twitch Affiliate Program. It wont help you make Twitch a full-time job, but serves as a segue as streamers build their communities and eventually reach partnership.

"At launch, Affiliates will be able to start using Cheering with Bits on their channel so their communities have an on-platform choice for showing support."

Essentially, Affiliates will slowly get access to what were previously exclusive features for partnered streamers, while Partners earn new additions, such as the Verified Chat Badge.

"Affiliates will eventually have access to basic versions of our tools including Subscriptions, Game Commerce and Advertising, we will continue developing additional features just for Partners that are tailored for nurturing the larger communities they manage. For example, when we launch Subscriptions for Affiliates in the future, Affiliates will have only 1 subscriber emote, whereas Partners will be able to unlock a full set of 50 subscriber emotes."

It's another interesting move for Twitch. I think its important to note this doesn't equate to a livable wage but may help smaller streamers support themselves as they grow their audience. I'm curious to see what tools become available as time goes on.
