An army of new creatures of the night will be descending on V Rising in its next content update. While the developer Stunlock Studios hasn’t revealed a timeline for its release just yet, they did offer a preview of what’s to come in its latest dev blog.

The studio reports that they’re currently working to group enemies into “unit families” based on their inherent characteristics and allegiances. “One such example is the legions of undead you encounter early and often,” Stunlock says. “Undead are hostile to members of the Church of Luminance and will react violently to their presence. So, when you’re out in the world, you might stumble upon a Goreswine and its gang fighting with golems, bandits, and the local militia.”

“This adds life to the world in a way that makes intuitive, logical sense,” the studio added. “Some families even have more complicated allegiances, like how militia soldiers are friendly to townspeople and paladins but are unfriendly towards bandits.”

Stunlock also teased a new unit family that will behave differently from existing unit families. “While other alliances are meant to be a constant force of skirmishing stability in the world of Vardoran, this new army is quite the opposite; this is a force of instability,” the devs teased.

Alongside the new unit family, the team is also conjuring up new creatures to add to the game, including a bat-like creature with massive scythes for arms and a flirty succubus. Again, there’s no telling when these new enemy types will be making their in-game debut but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.
