Valheim’s community of Viking survivalists continues to grow with over 10 million copies sold to date. That’s just one of the huge milestones that the popular survival MMO has achieved in just over a year. The game also peaked at 502,000 players shortly after launch, sold over 3 million units in two weeks, and won various gaming awards, including Best Debut and Audience Award during this year’s Game Developer’s Choice Awards at GDC 2022.

“We never imagined Valheim would become so big, not even in our wildest dreams, and the past year flew by faster than we anticipated,” said Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson in a press release. “Our team has doubled since launch and knowing Valheim is enjoyed by millions of players around the world honours and humbles us at the same time.”

“Seeing Valheim's journey through its first year of Early Access and being by Iron Gate's side has been an immense privilege,” added Coffee Stain’s VP of Publishing, Albert Säfström. “The team is pouring all their development knowledge and love for the craft into the game, and it's humbling to see the fruit of their work bring joy to millions around the world.”

Meanwhile, the team continues to work on the Mistlands biome which is set to launch sometime this year. News on the highly-awaited update have come to a standstill, although the game itself is still receiving regular updates, the latest of which comes with a small list of bug fixes and polishing.
