Valheim Finally Arrives On Xbox Consoles, No Current Plans For A PlayStation Launch

Viking survival MMO Valheim has finally arrived on consoles, specifically on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with full cross-play with the PC version.

The Xbox port of the breakout indie title was developed by European game developers Fishlabs and Piktiv who Iron Gate Studios farmed the game out to so they can focus on creating new content and updates. We assume that both developers will be handling updates for the Xbox version as well.

Unfortunately for PlayStation users, the breakout survival game won’t be coming to Sony’s console anytime soon, as confirmed by Senior Developer Jonathan Smårs in an interview with the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast. “Currently we’re only looking at the Xbox, but you never know,” he revealed.

Valheim rose to become one of the most-played games on Steam when it launched into early access in February 2021 and sold 5 million copies in its first month. The game now touts over 10 million players to date and will likely see even more Vikings join the quest to enter Valhalla now that it’s launched on Xbox.

If you’ve already purchased the title through the Microsoft Store, you’ll be able to claim the game for free on Xbox. Otherwise, the game is available through Xbox Game Pass.
