Virginia Pokemon Go Shooter Charged With Murder, Denied Bond

60-year-old Jiansheng Chen, was shot and killed by a security guard while playing Pokemon Go at their neighborhood clubhouse in Chesapeake, last January. The security guard, 21-year-old Jonathan Cromwell, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm, and was denied bond earlier this week.

According to the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Chen was driving a van and turning into the parking area driveway when he was confronted by Cromwell who stopped his car in front of Chen’s van. Chen then backed up and turned around prompting Cromwell to exit his car and yell “Stop!” Cromwell then allegedly fired a shot at Chen’s driver-side window before moving to the front of the van and firing seven more shots. Chen was hit with a total of five bullets.
