War Thunder Gets Modern Vehicles For The Weekend

It's the day before April Fool's Day and, because April Fool's Day happens to land on a Saturday, we're getting all of the press releases about various game's April Fool's pranks today. Perhaps the most interesting, seeing as it's somewhat believable, is that War Thunder will be getting modern vehicles for the weekend. New vehicles being introduced as part of the April Fool's event include the GM-64, the Leopard 2A5, the Mi-35, and the Vladimir T-90A. Yes, two of those are attack helicopters.

In going with the modern theme, a new map simply titled "Middle East" will be introduced.

Gaijin Entertainment Creative Director Kirill Yudintsev had the following to say about the announcement.

Our players often reach out to us with requests and wishes for the introduction of modern vehicles to War Thunder. In fact, even way before the release, we have already begun to run large-scale internal testing and preparations, as we see this as great opportunity to expand the historical framework of our game. This weekend, we are finally able to present the first results of our efforts.

I can't be sure, but I think this might actually be happening, just only for the weekend. Unless that's exactly what they want us to think. I suppose we'll just have to keep our eyes on the official website to find out.
