Warframe Tops Steam Free To Play Revenue Charts, Surpassing Dota 2

Warframe continues its meteoric rise. The sci-fi action RPG by Digital Extremes is now the highest earning free to play title on Steam, surpassing Valve's own Dota 2 which has dominated the chart for years.

What makes this accomplishment especially remarkable is the fact that only a portion of Warframe's playerbase connects via Steam. PC users also have the option of downloading the stand alone client from the official site. Warframe is also available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Dota 2, on the other hand, is a Steam exclusive.

The latest expansion, Plains of Eidolon, has helped boost the game's playerbase since its release late last year. The game continues to attract new players and retain existing veterans.
