Warframe Was Hacked In 2014, 775,749 Accounts Affected

According to Motherboard, Warframe was hacked in November 2014, affecting 775,749 accounts in total. The hack was uncovered earlier this month by Troy Hunt, who you may know as the creator of Have I Been Pwned? It was orchestrated through the use of "a Drupal SQL exploit that was patched by Drupal two weeks after the breach occurred," as it was put by Digital Extremes' VP Publishing Meridith Braun. The company has since "replaced Drupal with a custom website system that no longer stores any account information" and added a two-factor authentication system.
According to Braun, "the stolen data DID NOT include any account passwords, variations of passwords, hashed passwords, game account data or personal player information such as full names, addresses or other billing and payment information." Information that the hacker(s) got a hold of consists of each of the affected accounts' email addresses, usernames, and the dates that the accounts were created. Regardless, Digital Extremes is recommending that players change their passwords and enable two-factor authentication.
