Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade's Daily Active User Count Has Tripled Since It Went Free-To-Play

Going free-to-play isn't always the best option for a game, but it seems that it is working out for Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade. While we only get a look at concurrent users when we look at SteamCharts, which have doubled since the game went free-to-play last Thursday, Behaviour Digital has stated that the Daily Active User count has also seen a significant increase, having tripled since the game went free-to-play. According to Behaviour, there were "44,619 unique users playing Sunday."

But not all is well. According to Behaviour, "so massive was the increase that we hit 'glass roofs' in some services." As such, the team has announced that the following issues are being worked on this week.

  • Refactoring and reinstating certain Guild Services that are currently disabled due to various issues that were caused by a large number of guilds joining the game.
  • Refactoring certain World Map services.
  • Fixing DLC upgrades that didn't work properly.
  • Handing out the giftable free copies of the game that were promised to all players that bought the game before it went free-to-play.
  • Handing out "4x4000 Faction RTC" to all players to thank them for "sticking around over the weekend" despite "the problems [they] encountered."

It remains to be seen whether the new users will remain, but, for the time being, Eternal Crusade's playerbase is seeing somewhat of a resurgence and the team is doing what they can to fix any issues as they arise.

If you want to try out the now free-to-play MMO shooter, you can download it now via Steam.
