After giving World of Warcraft players a quick look at flying and mounts in the afterlife, Blizzard Entertainment is back with another preview of the changes coming to the game with the Shadowlands 9.1: Chains of Domination update. Of significant note is the addition of a new zone, a new faction, and new Covenant-related activities.

“As part of his ongoing schemes, the Jailer has located a long-lost domain of the Shadowlands—Korthia, the City of Secrets—and dragged it from the hidden byways of the In-Between into the Maw. In this new area, you’ll team up with the covenants under a unified banner to fight against the endless forces of the Jailer, and work to uncover what obscurities he seeks in this forgotten realm.”

The update will also introduce Covenant Assaults which will task players with helping their chosen Covenant eliminate the monstrosities inhabiting the Maw. Covenant Assaults will happen twice a week and will be led by one Covenant with another Covenant as support. Participating in Assaults will reward players with reputation points for both the leading and assisting factions as well as the newly-created coalition of Covenants called Death’s Advance.

Aside from participating in Covenant Assaults, players will also be able to gain reputation with the new faction by completing new daily and repeatable quests. They can also gain reputation with the The Archivist’s Codex faction by recovering lost relics in Korthia.
