Amazon Game Studios Previews PvP Territory Wars In Their Latest Dev Video Diary

Last month, Amazon penned a dev blog that explained how factions will play a role in PvP. Today, we’re treated to a new developer video that highlights another one of the game’s PvP modes, Territory War.

Territory Wars is a one-hour 50vs50 PvP siege battle that the developers describe as one of the major pillars and “the pinnacle moment of PvP” in the game. “When two territories clash, a war can begin,” explains the devs. “One Territory can challenge another to War at their fort. So if one Company’s in control of a Territory, if you have enough standing, you can go with your Company and try to do, basically, a hostile takeover.”

“Every Company in control of a Territory, sets what’s called a siege window. Once that’s scheduled, you have this one-hour intense PvP battle.” Once the War starts, the attackers will be tasked with bringing down the fort’s gates with various siege weapons at their disposal. The defenders, on the other hand, will have access to different siege weapons to help them repel the besiegers. The War ends when the attackers successfully capture the fort’s flag or when the time runs out. “It’s a new level of social dynamism that no other game has,” says Lead Systems Designer John Liberto.

The developers also talk about PvE Invasions in the video, the second major gameplay pillar in New World. You can watch the entire thing below.
