ArcheAge KR To Let Players Advance Beyond Max Level, Nexon To Help Publish On January 19th

As part of the 3.1: Beginning update that is set to go live in the Korean version on January 19th, ArcheAge will let players advance beyond max level with a new set of seven "Successor levels." According to 2p, Successor levels will work somewhat like normal levels; players will need to grind an exorbitant amount of experience points and each level will grant them attribute points. However, Successor levels will also require players to obtain various items that will be used in the leveling process. The first Successor level will allegedly require players to obtain eight items in addition to grinding for the required amount of experience.

Interestingly, with the launch of the update, Nexon Korea will begin helping out with publishing duties in Korea. A pre-registration page offering several rewards to those that pre-register is already open on Nexon's official website. Given that XLGames has been self-publishing ArcheAge in Korea since its original launch in 2013, this move may seem a bit odd. However, I was told during my tour of ArcheAge 3.0: Revelation that ArcheAge's North American service has the largest number of active players of any region by far. Given that, it would be a safe assumption that XLGames is looking to expand its Korean audience by partnering with a larger Korean publisher like Nexon. One has to wonder if Civilization Online would have stood a chance if the company had done the same with it.

ArcheAge 3.1: Beginning and the Nexon service are set to go live on January 19th. The details of Nexon's service and how it will either affect or interconnect with XLGames' own service have yet to be announced.
