Conan Exiles Reworks Temperature System, Makes Life Easier In The Exiled Lands

conan exiles deer snowIn real life, temperature plays a big part in any survival situation and can mean the difference between life and death. Developers have tried to incorporate this into their survival sandbox games to make them more realistic and, of course, more challenging. Funcom, however, might have gotten a little carried away when they initially worked on the temperature system for Conan Exiles. Which is why they made significant changes to the system when Update 30 rolled out earlier this week.

“The temperature system will now change more slowly - meaning that moving from one area to another will still apply the same temperatures but it takes longer to reach the target temperature.

“Changed temperature system popups. Temperature system now progresses (from coldest to hottest); ‘Frostbite, Extremely Cold, Very Cold, Cold, Normal, Hot, Very Hot, Extremely Hot, Overheating.’”

Update 30 also features changes that will make life a little bit easier for survivors in The Exiled Lands. These changes include: the option to lock containers, a corpse-location timer, reduced crafting times, and the ability to harvest Star Metal with any tool.

The team also made it easier to take on NPC camps. “The Cry-for-Help radius of humanoid NPCs have been reduced significantly,” says Community Manager Jens Erik. “This will make it a bit easier to break camps and not have to face hordes of enemies all the time (although it will still happen if the player is not careful).”

In addition, Funcom also revealed their plans to tone down the brightness and adjust the lighting effects of two light-producing in-game items on Twitter, specifically torches and the firebowl cauldron.

Apparently, the team already rolled out the lighting changes but the community is none too happy about it. The game’s Steam Community page is afire with cries to “Please fix the lighting”, "Can we please have our beautiful game back?", and “What have you done!?”

Update 30 also wreaked havoc on the game and the devs are still working on a hotfix which they promised to roll out today if, according to them, “all goes well.”
