Dauntless Launches Into Closed Beta
Founders Alpha is officially over and closed beta is finally here for Dauntless. That means players only need to spend $40 to get access to the game whereas it was $80 during the Founders Alpha. While Dauntless costs money to play right now the game will be free to play when it officially launches later this year. The closed beta of Dauntless wil lfeature regular updates that will improve the game such as new Behemoths, weapons, armor, islands, story expansions, and more.
“The Founder’s Alpha has been an inspirational experience for everyone here at Phoenix Labs. We’ve been collaborating with community, iterating on feedback, and improving Dauntless every day.” said Jesse Houston, Co-Founder and Executive Producer, Phoenix Labs. “Dauntless is a living game that we’ll be continuing to evolve, grow and expand through Closed Beta, Open Beta and beyond. Today’s Closed Beta launch marks the beginning of an amazing journey we’ll be taking with the Dauntless community for years to come.”
Having played Dauntless in Founders Alpha, I found the core gameplay to be quite fun but the game lacked content and quickly grew repetitive. The addition of new weapons and enemies as well as polishing up the UI should help keep the game feeling fresh. Time will tell if Dauntless can hold its own once Monster Hunter: World launches sometime in 2018.
