Dauntless Open Beta Begins

Phoenix Labs's Monster Hunter like MMO Dauntless officially began its open beta phase today. This is the first time the game is available to everyone for free and to drum up some hype a new open beta trailer was also released:

Dauntless - Open Beta Trailer

Quite a bit has changed in Dauntless since alpha testing. The game's biggest update to date launched earlier this month in preparation for open beta. Anyone who played the game during Alpha should go back and check it out as quite a bit of new content has been added and things have been polished up a bit.

“Open Beta is an exciting next step for us, but it is just the beginning for what we have planned for Dauntless,” said Jesse Houston, CEO and co-founder of Phoenix Labs. “For the past four years we’ve been dedicated to creating the next, great online game for players to share together, and Open Beta is the next huge step in fulfilling our promise. We will be continually adding content and updates to Dauntless and incorporating feedback from our passionate community. We are committed to providing more and more reasons for players to come back to Dauntless for years to come.”

Time will tell if Dauntless sees the same success that Capcom's Monster Hunter World has seen. One big advantage Dauntless has going for it is that it's free to play and Monster Hunter World won't be launching on the PC until late this year.

Update: The servers are live and getting into the game is extremely difficult due to server load. Here's the error message I'm getting:
