Destiny 2 Servers Are Down For 24 Hours In Preparation For Lightfall’s Launch

Light is falling in Destiny 2 as the multiplayer first-person shooter nears the halfway mark of its day-long process to deploy its big Lightfall expansion. The servers went down for maintenance at 9 a.m. PST earlier today and is expected to come back online at around the same time tomorrow, February 28th.
The expansion is now available for pre-loading across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but be prepared to free up a whole lot of disk space regardless of what platform you’re on. You’ll need at least 185 GB of available disk space for the PS4 version (which also applies to the said version on the PS5), at least 103 GB for the PS5 version, 185 GB for Xbox Series X|S, 90 GB for the Xbox One Version, and a whopping 234 GB for the PC version. Note that you’ll need the old files to be able to pre-load the expansion so don’t go deleting them just to free up disk space.
While waiting for the servers to come back online, you can check out the beefy patch notes on the Destiny 2 official site or catch up on all of the previously-released Lightfall trailers in the latest newsletter here.
