While most players welcome a good challenge in their favorite video games, there’s such a thing as making a game too hard. Bungie has admittedly reached that point in Destiny 2, as Game Director Joe Blackburn pointed out back in February, and is now working to dial back the online first-person shooter’s overall difficulty.

The team recently rolled out a hotfix that tweaked the difficulty of free roam activities in Neomuna including making orange health mobs spawn less frequently in the area. There’ll also be fewer turrets gunning for you in Ahimsa Park in addition to reduced health scaling for two and three-player groups taking on Season 20’s legendary exotic mission.

You can also expect an overall reduction in the health of mobs in instanced activities like campaign mission, lost sectors, nightfalls, and battlegrounds.

In addition to the difficulty adjustments, the team has also lowered the requirements for weekly commendation challenges. Commendation requirements for Hawthorne’s weekly challenge has been reduced from 20 commendations down to five, requirements to advance through Guardian Ranks 7 through 9 have been reeled back, and commendation-related Guardian Rank objectives for the said ranks have now been removed entirely.

Bungie’s latest weekly newsletter offers more information about the aforementioned changes and dives into the upcoming mid-season weapon changes that will affect a wide variety of weapon types and several exotic weapons.

You’ll find the full newsletter on the Destiny 2 official site.
