At long last, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online has entered Open Beta. You can now download the game from the Nexon Launcher or Steam completely free of charge and play the game indefinitely without any fear of your free play time ending.

Neople launched a new update alongside the start of Open Beta called "Up Close and Personal; Hand of Destiny." The update adds a new mode called Ghost Assault that pits a team of cyborgs against "ghosts" and a new operative named Kuro, who is brand new to the franchise, as Maven was.

Kuro's story is as follows.

Kuro hails from the Japanese self-defense forces, where he quickly racked up commendations for his combat skills. His career was nearly cut short by catastrophic injury, but he elected to undergo full-body prosthesis in order to remain combat-ready.  A specialist in electronic warfare to rival even Ishikawa, Kuro can shut his enemies down with EMP devices. It was for this talent that Chief Aramaki, also a JSDF veteran, brought him into Public Security.
