DokeV Is Now A Co-op Open World Action-Adventure Game, Not An MMORPG

When Pearl Abyss first announced DokeV back in 2019, they described the game as “a collectible MMORPG for all ages.” Sadly, that won’t be the case as the studio officially confirms that the highly-awaited monster taming game will in fact be a co-op open world action adventure game rather than the full-blown MMO that they promised.

“DokeV was initially introduced as an MMO, but we decided to move the game in a different direction and it’s now a creature-collecting open world action-adventure,” tweeted Pearl Abyss following the release of DokeV’s first gameplay trailer. “But regardless of genre, we’re going for fun, vibrant, and adventurous.”

Crimson Desert, which was announced alongside DokeV and exosuit shooter Plan 8, was also initially touted as a three-faction open-world MMORPG but has since been scaled down to a multiplayer game with a single-player campaign. Makes you wonder what other surprise changes are brewing behind the scenes at Pearly Abyss, especially with regard to Plan 8 which we haven’t heard from for quite a while now.
