Dungeons And Dragons Online Plans To Finally Add XP Gains For Killing Monsters

Dungeons and Dragons Online stands out among MMORPGs with its unique approach to experience point distribution. Unlike other games, DDO doesn’t grant XP for each monster slain in a quest.

Instead, the game rewards players with extra XP upon completing optional mission goals, encouraging them to take on challenging tasks. However, the studio, Standing Stone Games, recognizes that the current rewards may not be enticing enough.

In response to this “hot topic,” the development team is planning to make significant changes to the reward system. They plan to increase bonuses for higher difficulty settings, offering greater rewards for reaching specific thresholds of enemies defeated. Additionally, the number of mobs required to be slain in order to receive the bonus will be reduced.

“Our goal here is to make monsters a bit more worth while from an XP perspective using the conquest bonus,” explained Standing Stone.

“We also wanna clean up some of the confusion in first time bonuses (only one type plz)," the devs added. “We got feedback on a mess of issues but one thing that came across is conquest is busted in many places and even when it’s not busted, it’s often not considered worth while because you need to go off critical path, and there are fears the XP per minute will slow significantly.”

These adjustments will take effect with the release of Update 60, which is expected to hit the live servers sometime in July. More information can be found on the Dungeons and Dragons official forums.
