epic games tonic games acquisition bannerThis year’s series of studio buyouts and acquisitions continues as Epic Games fully acquires Tonic Games Group, the terms of which have been undisclosed. Tonic Games Group is the parent company of Mediatonic, the studio behind the highly-popular platform battle royale game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

As you might expect, Tonic Games assured the community that the game will remain as it is and that the gameplay mechanics that have made it a smash hit will not be changing following the acquisition.

“For Fall Guys fans, your gameplay isn’t changing and Epic will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for players across platforms,” said Tonic in the official press release. “Your favorite colorful beans will still stumble through the chaos on PC, PlayStation, and soon Nintendo Switch and Xbox.”

“Joining forces with Epic will accelerate our plans to improve the game and bring Fall Guys to as many players as possible, while continuing to support the community,” they added. More information about the acquisition can be found in this FAQ.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout rose to fame during the height of the COVID-19 quarantines with its casual and fresh take on the battle royale formula. The hype has somewhat died down over the past few months but the game still maintains a healthy playerbase, averaging at around 9,000 players in the past 30 days based on SteamCharts data.

Tonic Games also maintained that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will still be available on Steam and PlayStation for players who own the game and for those who want to purchase it through the said platforms in the future.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is scheduled to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch this summer.
