Final Fantasy XIV Character Transfers Bogged Down Following The Opening Of A New Data Center

Server congestion in Final Fantasy XIV continues to be a massive thorn in Square Enix’ side since the Endwalker expansion launched last month. To spread the load, the team recently opened a new data center in Oceania, which inadvertently resulted in even more congestion as a large influx of character transfer requests began to flood the new data center.

Square Enix assures players that character transfers are being processed in the order that they were received but will take longer than usual to complete. The team also reminds players that they’ll first need to access the data center they’re transferring to before actually starting the transfer process. To do this, simply select the data center that you plan to transfer to and get to the character selection for the system to flag you in the new data center. Remember to do this before initiating the transfer request and not after.
