Grapeshot’s Pirate MMO Atlas Will Be Launching On Xbox One Next Week With Cross-Play Support

atlas captain back bannerGrapeshot Games’ pirate MMO Atlas has had a rocky life since it was first announced in December last year. The game was initially scheduled for release on December 13th, just a week after it was first revealed. The launch date was later pushed back to give the devs time to polish the game. Grapeshot ultimately settled on a buggy buy-to-play Early Access release via Steam on December 22nd to mostly negative reviews.

Grapeshot, however, hasn’t given up on the game just yet. The studio has just confirmed their plans to launch Atlas on Xbox One in a recent interview with Inside Xbox. The Xbox One version of the game will feature full PC cross-play support which should give a much-needed boost to the game's steadily declining playerbase.

“Ahoy Pathfinders! Today on Inside Xbox, Grapeshot Games announced that its massive multiplayer first-and-third person fantasy pirate adventure ATLAS is confirmed to launch into Xbox One’s Game Preview on October 8, 2019. ATLAS will launch Day One with crossplay support, allowing Xbox and Steam PC players to play together in the same gigantic world. Keyboard and mouse support for Xbox players ensures full game parity and an even playing field for all scoundrels, along with optional new single-player and private session modes for those who wish to go seafaring with just their friends!”

“Since launching into Steam Early access, the Grapeshot Games team has been busy integrating feedback and making improvements through ‘Mega-Updates’,” says Grapeshot. “The studio recently revealed a brand-new roadmap outlining the future of ATLAS’s development with simultaneous updates and content pushes for Xbox and PC players - this ensures delivery of the exact same experience for both platforms.” You’ll find the full roadmap on the Atlas official site.
