GWENT Challenger Tournament Has $100,000 On The Line

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game has partnered with ESL to host a tournament with both eSports pros and fans, competing for $100,000. Since GWENT isn't released—still in Closed Beta—the pros are from Hearthstone: "Trump (Jeffrey Shih), Lifecoach (Adrian Koy), Noxious (Kacem Khilaji) and ppd (Peter Dager)."

“It’s a real privilege to observe how active GWENT players are in the realm of competitive gaming. Community-powered tournaments like The Passiflora Championship, The Seven Cats Brawl or The Gwentlemen’s Open are a source of inspiration for the entire team, and we definitely want this part of GWENT to grow,” said Paweł Burza, Community Manager, CD PROJEKT RED.

Anyone can register, including you (yeah, you), by visiting the GWENT Challenger tournament homepage. Registration is open between March 16th and March 22nd, and the tournament will begin on April 8th and last until April 9th (just two days).

I can't help but find it funny that the game isn't released but it's trying to make headway in the eSports market. Since when do Closed Betas hold $100,000 tournaments?

I can't blame them for trying. Still, I do think it would be helpful if more players had access to the game to rally behind it. Though I guess they could just play The Witcher games in the meanwhile.
