Lineage Eternal Delayed Again, Will Use Unreal 4

We've been waiting for the third mainline Lineage MMORPG, aptly titled Lineage Eternal, ever since it was first revealed back in 2011. That wait just got longer.

Citing a Korean source, Steparu reports that NCSoft has decided to scrap the existing Guild Wars engine that Lineage Eternal was using and start over with Unreal Engine 4. While the news of another major delay may disappoint some, it does mean the game has a better chance of success thanks to the newer engine.

Perhaps more disconcerting than the delay is the possibility that the original PC version of the game may be scrapped entirely. NCSoft has enjoyed enormous success with its mobile MMORPGs including, Lineage 2: Revolution (developed by Netmarble), and Lineage-M. The Korean studio announced that they had three new mobile MMORPGs under development during their latest earnings call, including a Guild Wars 2 based mobile MMORPG.

While the original Lineage remains popular in Korea, only Lineage 2 is available in the West as a free to play title.
