Mobile MMOARPG Diablo Immortal Gears Up For Limited Technical Alpha

The game is set between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 and will feature six playable classes when the game officially launches: Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, and Wizard.

In a new update video, Lead Designer Wyatt Cheng reveals that the game is ready to go into limited Technical Alpha and offers a few bits of information on gameplay, world building, and more.

“A small number of players, primarily in Australia, will briefly have access to test the game,” said Cheng, “and help us look at our early leveling experience, as well as our midgame systems.”

The Technical Alpha will feature four out of the six available classes: Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, and Wizard. The Crusader and Necromancer classes will not be available during the Technical Alpha but will be playable at launch, or hopefully in future tests.

The alpha will also have a lower level cap than the original game at level 45. Players, however, will have access to a Paragon system similar to that in Diablo 3 which will allow them to continue their progress past the level cap. But unlike the Paragon system in Diablo 3, Diablo Immortal will feature multiple Paragon trees with different abilities that will allow players to further customize their builds around their preferred playstyles.

Diablo Immortal will also feature a slightly different version of Diablo 3’s Elder Rifts called Greater Rifts. Elder Rifts required keys to open in Diablo 3 but it’s unclear whether the same thing applies to the randomized dungeons in Diablo Immortal.

Blizzard also published several blogs about gameplay, character and skill progression, and itemization in the upcoming mobile game. You can check those out on the Diablo Immortal official site.
