The Guardians of the Rift minigame is now live in Old School RuneScape in this week’s update. The new minigame is designed to make Runecraft skill training easier and make it more engaging. Before they can access the minigame, players must first complete the new Temple of the Eye quest which comes with its own pre-requisites.

“In this all-new quest, you’ll assist the (allegedly) famous Wizard Persten with her research, visit the ancient Temple of the Eye, and uncover a mystery that goes back to the very dawn of magic. If all that sounds like fun, you can get started by speaking to Wizard Persten north of the Al Kharid gate.”

Upon completing Temple of the Eye, they can then take part in the Guardians of the Rift minigame which tasks players with helping the Great Guardian close the Abyssal Rift. While powering up the Great Guardian, players will also have to defend him against waves of Abyssal creatures by building barriers or summoning smaller guardians to fight them off.

Several changes have already been made to the encounter since it launched a few hours ago in response to player feedback. The team was also forced to roll the servers back to just before the update due to a bug that allowed players to pick up untradeable items when they’re dropped within an instance.

The full patch notes along with the list of recent fixes and changes can be found on the Old School RuneScape official site.
