NetEase and Starry Studio are ramping up Once Human’s ongoing open beta test following its impressive turnout. The team recently expanded the testing pool from 20,000 to 50,000 testers with one caveat: it’s going to be invite-only starting on December 13.

“In response to your enthusiasm and support, we have expanded the number of testers from 20,000 to 50,000. However, we also face certain difficulties. Under the current server testing conditions, we have found that the pressure to maintain continuous access is extremely high, which may affect the testing experience for existing players,” Starry Studio explained on Discord.

Until then, everyone will still be able to download the game and take it for a test drive. Come December 13th, those who want to participate in the beta test will need to fill out a questionnaire for a chance to receive an activation code. The developers will be selecting 3,000 applicants from the pool every week and will be sending out invites every Friday.

If you’ve been meaning to try the self-described “weird survival sandbox game,” you only have roughly a day to do so before the developer starts screening aspiring testers.
