Overwatch China Releases Lootbox Probabilities

Lootbox contents: Each lootbox contains 4 items. The items that you can obtain include cosmetics, in-game currency, or in-game currency for a duplicate item.
Rare items: The box will contain at least one item of Rare (or higher) quality.
Epic items: You may receive an item of Epic quality for every 5.5 boxes opened. (18.18%)
Legendary items: You may receive an item of Legendary quality for every 13.5 boxes opened. (7.4%)

In compliance with China's newly implemented law, where companies are now legally required to publish lootbox probabilities and drop rates, Overwatch China has released the probability parameters for their lootboxes on their website.

The probabilities listed are as follows...

Lootbox contents: Each lootbox contains 4 items. The items that you can obtain include cosmetics, in-game currency, or in-game currency for a duplicate item.

The lootbox law was announced last year by the Ministry of Culture in China, pushed as an effort to better educate consumers on the risk they take from gambling for items in lootboxes. The law has officially come in effect on May 1st, 2017. Overall this is a law that benefits consumers greatly, and will hopefully help stem addictive behaviours as they are able to make more informed decisions on the nature of random loot generators.
