Path of Exile's Incursion Expansion Officially Launches

Grinding Gear Games launched the Incursion update for Path of Exile today on the PC (The Xbox One version comes out next week). In Incursion players can travel back into the past to explore new areas and discover new treasures. In plain English, the update adds what players expect from a new Path of Exile update, so expect things like new items, 12 new gems (6 vaal skills, 5 trap skills, and a new trap support gem), and a revamp to some existing skills.

Path of Exile: Incursion Trailer and Developer Introduction

Since Incursion went live, the game's playerbase has spiked from its usual 17k concurrent average on Steam to over 85,000, a similar peak to when Fall of the Oriath launched.

"Incursion is Path of Exile's largest league yet, with more content than we have put into some expansions in the past," commented Chris Wilson, managing director of Grinding Gear Games. "Playtesting Incursion is the most fun we've had in Path of Exile yet, so we can't wait to see what the community thinks."
