Path Of Exile Rolls Back Xbox One Servers Following Reports Of Economy-Breaking Bugs

path of exile flaming scepterGrinding Gear Games was forced to rollback the Path of Exile Xbox One servers shortly after releasing Patch 3.13.1 the other night to avoid what could have been a major disruption of the game’s economy. According to the studio, they started receiving reports of non-functioning currency orbs on certain items, rewards being spawned at exceedingly high rates, guaranteed success in item crafting, and more.

It’s easy to see how these issues could drastically impact a game’s economy which is why the developers decided to rollback the servers to before the patch was deployed, wiping away about an hour’s worth of progress.

“Our deepest apologies for this, but the significant economic damage that occurred must be undone so that it's fair for everyone,” tweeted Grinding Gear. “Protecting the state of the in-game economy is of utmost importance, and to leave the unintended items in play would be unfair to other players.”

Upon closer investigation, Grinding Gear said that the issues stemmed from corrupted data files. The issues have now been fixed but the team promises to look into it further to find out exactly how they occurred.
