If you’re enjoying the current Path of Exile Scourge League, then you’ll probably want to spend as much time on it as you can before it goes away forever on January 31st. While some leagues end up being incorporated into the free-to-play ARPG’s core gameplay, developer Grinding Gear Games has revealed that Scourge will definitely not be one of them.

Grinding Gear, however, isn’t entirely closing their doors on the possibility of bringing back the Scourge Challenge League in the future, or maybe even making it part of the core gameplay.

“As we mentioned recently, we're expecting to launch our 3.17 expansion in early February which means that the ongoing Scourge Challenge League will end fairly soon. It prompts the question, will Scourge become a core Path of Exile mechanic? The short answer is no. We don't have any current plans to bring Scourge back. It may still return some time in the future but we can't give any current indications for when that might be or what Scourge would look like as core game content.”

Fortunately, most players agree with the team’s decision, with many pointing out that Scourge’s mechanics feel underdeveloped and could benefit from a little more work. That being said, there are some requests to retain a few of the league’s elements. But, seeing as that won’t be happening, it’s probably best to just enjoy it while it lasts.
