Pax Dei developer Mainframe Industries is gearing up for the sandbox MMORPG’s first large-scale alpha test next week. Dubbed Home Valley, the playtest will run from November 14th through November 27th and will focus on “peaceful” gameplay systems, with a particular focus on player housing.

“The ability for each player to claim a plot in a shared world and make it their own is, we think, pretty unique in an MMO setting and very cool,” the studio said. Not to burst Mainframe’s bubble, but shared world housing systems aren’t exactly a new concept in the MMORPG world, although it looks like the studio will be implementing it on a larger scale than most games in the genre.

Pax Dei’s medieval fantasy world is composed of four provinces and twenty valleys where players will be able secure their own personal spot in the virtual world. They’ll be able to construct their houses on their respective plots of land using dozens of building pieces that they can mix and match according to their personal preferences.

Players will also be able to explore the said provinces during the test to gather resources for crafting a variety of gear, weapons, and potions to aid them in their adventures. They’ll also get the chance to test out the game’s combat system on the mobs, rare spawns, and dungeons scattered all across the game world. PvP, however, will be disabled during the test but death penalties will still apply.

Mainframe also asks testers to be on the lookout for bugs and offer feedback when they can. “Your feedback will be key to helping us move forward on this journey, and we can’t be grateful enough for your active participation in the Alpha.”

The team will be inviting a couple of thousand testers to participate in the playtest and they won’t be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
