Record Of Lodoss War Online Is Apparently Launching In English This Week

So today's bit of news went so far under the radar that I wasn't even aware that the game in question would be launching in English. L&K Logic Korea's Record of Lodoss War Online launched in Japan on February 16th, 2016 as the latest video game to be based on Ryo Mizuno's series of fantasy novels that was released between 1988 and 1993. While several of the novels have been officially translated, the only other game to be officially translated was the Diablo-like dungeon crawler, simply titled "Record of Lodoss War," which was released for Dreamcast back in 2000. Given that, it was previously thought that the title would never make it to the West.

It seems, however, that that assumption was inaccurate. On March 16th, it was announced that Record of Lodoss War Online would be launching in English and that a Closed Beta would be held soon after the announcement. Well, the Closed Beta was has come and gone and it was announced on Friday that the game will be launching on April 6th, albeit with the caveat that "the opening schedule could change due to internal affairs."

For those that are unaware of what Record of Lodoss War Online is exactly, it is an old-school, Diablo-like isometic hack-'n-slash MMORPG that is intended to appeal to older fans of the series who are now in their late 30s and early 40s. The game's story apparently starts with the story of Record of Lodoss War's first book, Gray Witch, and moves on to later books afterwards.

Those who are interested can already pre-load the client via the official website. However, the site seems to be having some issues at this time, as I was able to access it when I began writing this article, but no longer can as of the end of this article.
