The Repopulation Sold To Idea Fabrik, To Return In Q1 2017
Remember when it was announced that The Repopulation had been taken offline and removed from sale following "turmoil" that had been going on at Idea Fabrik? Remember when it was announced that the game would be moving to Unreal Engine 4 and a smaller survival game based on the engine that would be later used for it, Fragmented, was being developed so that players would have something to play while they waited for The Repopulation to be redeveloped? It would seem that plans have changed as, in a shocking move, The Repopulation has been sold to Idea Fabrik, the developer of HeroEngine, which plans to bring it back online in Q1 2017.
The news is a bit confusing, as it isn't really clear how Idea Fabrik could afford to take control of one of the games being made in the engine that it had created following its "turmoil" a year ago and subsequent restructuring, much less who exactly will be working on the game. Nevertheless, Idea Fabrik has acquired the game and will be relaunching it sometime in the next few months.
Idea Fabrik CEO and Chairman Alex Shalash had the following to say about the announcement.
We are incredibly excited to relaunch “The Repopulation” game to the public during the first quarter of 2017. Above and Beyond Technologies’ talented team has created one of the most awaited MMORPGs in recent years and we are looking forward to bringing this exciting player experience to game’s backers and players. Our first goal is to re-open game servers to the payers, and to begin the optimization and bug fixing as we continue to welcome feedback from players. Working alongside Above and Beyond Technologies the last few months we have gathered a lot of valuable information, however we will be looking to the community to help us spot areas they are looking for improvements in.
Above and Beyond Technologies CEO Joshua Halls also weighed in on the announcement.
We have made excellent progress with Idea Fabrik’s team to be able to bring back “The Repopulation” to players and will be working together with Idea Fabrik to ensure a smooth transition.
While The Repopulation has been sold to Idea Fabrik, Above and Beyond Technologies will continue its work on its survival game Fragmented.
