The first season of Arcane, Riot Game’s League of Legend-inspired animated series, came to an end this past weekend with the release of the final three episodes on Netflix. The highly-acclaimed show’s season ender was promptly met with calls for another season, which Riot CEO Nicolo Laurent assured fans was already in the works. Yay!

“So yeah, we are working on [Arcane] season 2,” tweeted Laurent. “The good news: you won’t have to wait for 6 years (the time it took us to make season 1). The bad news: it’s not coming in 2022.” Boo!

Arcane: Season 2 Announcement

Riot set the stage for the show’s season finale through several cross-promotional events across all of the studio’s games, including League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, League of Legends Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant. This is in addition to a plethora of YouTube videos and the announcement of another game set in the LoL universe called Project L.

Project L is a 2v2 tag-team arcade fighting game that offers a “vertical slice” of the LoL universe, as revealed by the game’s Senior Director and Executive Producer Tom Cannon. The studio also described it as, “a super high-quality fighting game that the FGC can invest deeply in, playing for years or even decades.”

Unfortunately, like Arcane’s second season, we won’t be seeing the game in 2022. You can check out a preview of the upcoming game in the video below.
