Risk It All In The Upcoming Path Of Exile Ultimatum Expansion, Watch The New Trailer
Ultimatum, the next Path of Exile league, is set to launch next week and it’s all about taking risks. Grinding Gear Games dived into the contents of the upcoming league and dropped the official trailer during yesterday’s Ultimatum reveal stream.
“The ancient civilisation of the Vaal was built on sacrifice. They understood that in order to attain great power, great risks must be taken. On behalf of a Vaal entity known only as Chaos, the Trialmaster seeks to discover challengers who are willing to make immense sacrifices in the pursuit of power. As you survive each of his challenges, will you risk it all and accept his next Ultimatum?”
The April expansion features the Ultimatum challenge league where players will get the chance to earn valuable rewards by taking risks and making sacrifices. Here’s how it works:
“The Trialmaster offers you a reward and a challenge with three difficulty modifiers to choose from. If you succeed in his trial, you may claim your reward. However, you'll be presented with an Ultimatum: leave with your spoils, or attempt more challenging encounters for more valuable rewards. But be careful how many trials you undertake - if you fail, you'll lose everything you've earned so far.”
In the endgame, players must make an offering to the Trialmaster before they take on the Inscribed Ultimatum challenges. If they successfully complete the inscribed challenge, they’ll be rewarded with an item of roughly double the value of their offering. If they fail, they forfeit the offering that they presented to the Trialmaster.
The Ultimatum expansion will also introduce the Vaal Reliquary Key, the rarest Reliquary Key to be added in the game. This key will drop from anywhere and can be used to open a portal to the Vaal Reliquary. Within the Reliquary, they’ll find a chest that contains an exclusive foil version of a Vaal-themed Unique item.
Ultimatum will also feature the addition of eight new Skill and Support Gems, a league rewards system overhaul, Vaal Skills improvements, new items, and more.
