Rocket League is a rags-to-riches success indie story, and can now proclaim 25 million registered players. No, they're not all active but they have all slammed their RC cars into a ballooned up ball more than once. I don't think Psyonix expected such monumental success for their sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars but they deserve it.

Since its release in July, 2015, Rocket League has held its position in the Steam Top 10 (over 50,000 people are playing it right now), and was one of the best selling games in 2016. Nuts.

But not entirely surprising. Rocket League is a simple game to understand, extremely difficult to master, and brimming with zany and hilarious moments—except for the ones where I whiff the ball and it explodes in my goal. Ouch. And it's a fun game to watch pros play. They make you scratch your head and go, "how did they do that?"

What this story say is Rocket League will be around for a long time.
