Wargaming announced today that the Soviet tech tree has been introduced in World of Warships, bringing with it nine Soviet cruisers. The nine cruisers introduced are as follows.

  • Tier II Russian cruiser Novik
  • Tier III Russian cruiser Bogatyr
  • Tier IV Russian cruiser Svetlana
  • Tier V Russian cruiser Kirov
  • Tier VI Russian cruiser Budyonny
  • Tier VII Russian cruiser Schors
  • Tier VIII Russian cruiser Chapaev
  • Tier IX Russian cruiser Dmitry Donskoy
  • Tier X Russian cruiser Moskva

According to World of Warships Global Publishing Producer Artur Plociennik, the team "spent a lot of time getting these vessels as authentic as possible." They are described as "sneaky snipers" with high speed and firepower, but not enough defensive power to be able to rush headlong into battle. Work on these vessels apparently began "over two years ago."

It is said that the Kirov's armaments are "unique" to the point that you will find "nothing else like [the Kirov] in World of Warships." Moskva is a ship that "only existed in blueprint form," originally designed to go head to head with the USS Des Moines.

Also included in the update are the "Tier VII US aircraft carrier Saipan" and the "Tier III UK destroyer Campbeltown." A new consumable called the Surveillance Radar gives the user an increased "range of assured acquisition of enemy ships," even giving the user the ability to see through smoke screens.
