Square Enix has just released their Q2 2021 financial results for the period of April 1, 2021 - June 30, 2021, which shows a 1.8% year-over-year increase in net sales amounting to ¥88.6 million, or roughly $807 million. The slight growth is attributed to the reopening of amusement facilities after last year’s COVID-19 lockdown, mobile sales, and an increase in Final Fantasy XIV monthly subscribers.

The company’s overall profits and income, however, has seen a significant decrease year-over-year in spite of the release of Outriders and NieR Replicant. Operating income for the second fiscal quarter of the year is down 29.5%, ordinary income by 26.9%, and profits by 11.9% compared to the same period last year. To be fair, last year’s profits were boosted by sales from the Final Fantasy VII Remake launch in April 2020.

Of course, these figures don’t include the recent spike in Final Fantasy XIV players starting in July, the effects of which will be show in the company’s Q3 2021 financial report.
